The group was founded in 1983 and has about 40 members. Their main purpose is to preserve the folk music of the region of Limousin. This region is in the central province of France. The highest mountain peak is Puy de Sancy at 1,885 metres a.s.l. There are lots of castles dating from the middle ages. Limousin is famous for its excellent cuisine, especially with grey or white geese stuffed with cereal and apples from orchards. In the Limousin region local traditions, songs and dialects and playing of ancient instruments, bagpipe, hurdy-gurdy, are still popular.

The name of the group means a bouquet of flowers given for the lover in May.
The members perform in costumes from the end of the 19th century and present various dances, among others, “La Bourrée”, waltz, polka, mazurka and the “Sautières” dance characteristic of the region of Limousin.
Zakopane has already hosted the La Maïde Malemortine folk group during the XXXVIII International Festival of Highland Folklore in 2006, when they were awarded the first prize of “Golden Axe.”
