The group “Lachy” was founded in 1956 and is the oldest regional art group acting continuously from the date of assumption in Nowy Sącz. The members of the group present the folklore of Sądeckie Lachs, the ethnographic group, which is considered to be transitional between folk music and the lowland populations of Małopolska. It is the result of centuries of interaction and blending of elements of pastoral culture of the Carpathian agricultural lowland. From the north the Lachy group borders east and west Kraków region. From the east with Łemko region, south-eastern boundary designates highlanders of Sądeccy and western- Zagora. The region is set in the valley of Sącz, surrounded by mountains of Beskid Sądecki.

During the Zakopane festival the group from Nowy Sącz will present the spectacle, “Zrękowiny.” It is a rite that crowned in the traditional culture of many of the previous pre-marital rituals, such as courtship, reconnoitre and matchmaking. The most important moment in the ceremony was a blessing and after the submission by future spouses oath of living and a life-long relationship. The ceremony was accompanied by many hand gestures and actions, such as holding hands by fathers as a sign of consent for all previous findings related to the wedding dowry. Exchange of gifts between the young and toasting praise for their prosperity. Betrothal was an opportunity to have fun and traditional Lachowskich dances that developed choreography will be presented on the festival. The public will see the dance like polka, cobbler or polka podmajder and mad polka, which are interspersed with starosts dances: trampolka and krzyżok.
