The group “Lipniczanie” was established in 1969 in Lipnica Murowana. They cultivate and promote the traditional folklore of the region of Sądeckie Foothills, taking care to preserve their native culture in an authentic form. The group is closely linked with the whole Carpathian Foothills, to which culture combines elements of Małopolska, especially with the culture east of Kraków.
The ensemble has a rich and varied repertoire, which includes among others programs, such as: “Idą draby, Obigrowka in Swatowskiego and Selling the Rod, or Polish Bethlehem L. Rydel.”

In Zakopane during the festival they will present the spectacle, “Na Jędrzeja Chacie”, which refers to the customs and plays related to St. Andrew’s Day. According to the old beliefs the eve of the day is conducive to the fortune-telling about matrimonial and dreams on the night of 29 to 30th of November; it had prophetic power. Special attention to the omens had marriageable girls wanting to know how their chances of marriage looked like. Who will be their future husband and how would he look like. The show will take place in Andrew’s cottage (the host) in the evening. On St. Andrew’s night first young girls meet and start fortune-telling on matrimonial future. Then neighbours, God mothers, hosts and young farmhands come to make a person’s birthday wishes. They start having fun together, accompanied by traditional songs and dances, including the most typical of the Sądecki Foothills region, such as: old lady polka, our polka, cross, oberek, pole and polka with couplet.

The group wish to be in the 1st category: traditional.
