France ”La Savoie”

At the foot of the Alps, there is the small town of Chambéry. Situated at the crossroads of former trade routes, the village is the home of the Group d’Arts & Traditions Populaires LA SAVOIE. The name of the group refers to a region whose folklore is in other words: Sabaudia. This mountainous region with its rich and turbulent history has developed its unique tradition of pastoral life in the Alpine valleys. Interesting is the presence in the Savoyan folklore elements typical of the musical traditions of eastern Europe. Many Savoists served in the Napoleonic army and returning home, in addition to loot and war scars, brought with them newly introduced dances and melodies. During the MFFZG the artists from Savoy will present the region-specific Montférines dances, danced only in the highest Alpine villages. Also, you will be able to admire the Polish Sabaudka, which came to the mountains with the Napoleonic soldiers. Also, on the stage is the extremely dynamic and rhythmic dance with sticks, which is a kind of praise for physically demanding pastoral life. The dancers accompany the accompaniment of a four-piece band with a leading rhythm, still popular throughout the region, the accordion.
